Hi Everyone

Does anyone know when the medicals take place? I have been invited to an assessment centre at Charnock Richard on 23rd March and wondered if the medicals take place then or are they done at a later stage of the process i.e if you are successful at assessment.

I ask because my BMI is 36, and realise that it has to be 35 or less if you do not want to go to a second medical. I am 6' 1" and 1 BMI is about 7lbs, so if I have 2-3 weeks I should be able to get 7lbs off.

If the medical is done at a later date is there a long wait? and if the medical is passed how long is it until you start your 6 week training?

When you are offered a start date, it is offered under some circumstances, such as a passed medical and security checks. Just passing the assessment centre does not guarantee an immediate start date, you may be placed on a waiting list for a period of months. No medicals are done on the day of the assessment centre.

When you get a start date, the medical ussually takes place about 1-2 weeks after that, usually at some kind of private health centre near to you. They will contact you direct to discuss a date.

the advert is for 3 officers and doesn't say 'to a waiting list' like the 1 position in the South of the County, so I am assuming that the vacancies are for a fairly quick start assuming passing the assessment, security checks and medicals.

Then again after reading many posts there seems to be many instances of applicants being kept waiting.

I had mine at Centurian House, Deansgate, Manchester.. Don't know if it will be the same, can't remember who does them now?

empty pockets , dress lightly and keep up the excercise mate , i wouldnt worry too much ,

The precedents have clearly already been set by others before you,
who had an extra pork-pie ? diversity and all that
