  • Is Neighbourhood policing dying on the beat? Do PCSOs have a future?
  • MET POLICE have cut half their PCSOs since the start of the coalition government
Essex have cut theirs by 30 per cent
Only five police forces out of the 39 in England have maintained or increased their number of PCSOs.
UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis said: "Neighbourhood policing is dying on the beat. What took years to build up is being lost because of reckless Government cuts. "PCSOs are under growing pressure. They tell us how they have to cover larger beats and more of them have to work alone, often leading them to feel vulnerable. "PSCOs play a key role in intelligence gathering, tackling minor crimes and anti social behaviour. They are a reassuring and deterring visible presence in our streets and without them crime is likely to rise.

Any other 'PCSO issues' that do not fit in to the other forums. Recruitment of PCSOs, day to day PCSO duties, questions about law, joining the regular police, becoming a special, anything else remotely PCSO orientated!!

OFF TOPIC is for any news story not directly linked to PCSO issues, off duty leisure pursuits. Sailing down the Thames. Playing computer games or basket weaving. Whatever it is, let's hear about it in here!! BUT friendly chat is what we want.

    Cartoon Version
  • A Big Thank You to John Child for putting together yet another PCSO calendar for us.

Please comment on the calendars by replying on the topic!

The idea is that the calendar can be printed out using any common or garden printer, or even at your local friendly neighbourhood graphics shop.

If you are willing to spend a few sovs, your graphic shop can make the pdf into a sporty "real calendar" for something around £10, but just print it on your own printer!!

A lot cheaper, pin it up somewhere and of course hopefully, our website address can be shared with a few other friendly PCSOs across the planet!

Please do let other people know about the calendars, either print one out for them or talk about the calendars on this site, Facebook, Twitter or even resorting to a megaphone along your High St would count!!
