Re: FREE TRAVEL for met pcsos

baronsmirnoff wrote:Sorry JHC & Jimbo maybe I should have said the article was about the Met

50% tax seems a lot also the article states Police community support officers and traffic wardens are entitled to free bus travel while on duty. We get it off duty as well

Re: FREE TRAVEL for met pcsos

No it is only Met officers who get free travel And BTP! ;-) Free travel for officers was introduced on the Tube and buses in London in 1970 in response to a rise in crime and attacks on transport staff Surely this would still apply today, especially in this wave of gang fights and knife incidentns?

Re: SPCSO Quick question

don't forget as a SPCSO you do go out on foot once a month!! don't you? :sltee: what happens? In reality, NO! Unfortunately, every SPCSO I know personally on my borough has not been out since becoming an SPCSO. This all comes down to economics - when they are taken out of the Station Office, then a...

Re: Polishing boots

I still polish my boots every day they are worn - sad man I know... works out well though, as my boots have lasted years.

Re: Fit for the streets

I think (as per North Wales) it should be a contractual requirement that all operational staff should pass a role specific fitness test every twelve months whilst doing their oficer safety training.

I think we all know a couple of officers that frankly are shocking in their fitness levels!

Re: Police in bike self-assessment farce

It makes a lot more sense than sending them for a two day cycling course (as we do)

Re: PCSO > PC - Will loose my driving permit!

The Met are exactly the same - I had to redo ALL my skills as well. To be fair, with the driving I was told that they don't want PCs driving until they have some experience of the job and so therefore can be sent out by themselves in a car deciding where to go, what jobs to do etc. That makes sense,...

Re: Hampshire Constabulary PCSO Uniform

Your trousers and all standard kit will be provided - some forces provide boots and some don't, so that'll be the only thing you have to check. All uniform items are paid for by the job, including replacements; so don't worry about having to pay for new ones if you lose weight! Good luck, and enjoy ...

Re: PCSO & Police career in BTP

Hello and welcome - and good luck! Whether to do a different role first is up to you; but I would say that keep in mind that PCSO is HUGELY different to PC. If being a Police Officer is what you want to do, then the best way to gain experience of being a police officer is, well... by being a Police ...

Re: Use of force

I know they have them in some of the Central London Boroughs, but we don't have them where I work. Doesn't your arrest notes or incident notes cover any use of force that might have been used?
