I'm in the Territorial Army (TA) but start as a PCSO soon...

Any other 'PCSO issues' that do not fit in to the other forums. Recruitment of PCSOs, day to day PCSO duties, questions about law, joining the regular police, becoming a special, anything else remotely PCSO orientated!!

:sljo: PCSO OF THE MONTH :slred:
A PCSO has returned to the beat after putting her career on hold to patrol a war-zone. New Garstang PCSO Michelle Mackay has returned from the Helmand Province of strife-torn Afghanistan.

The 38-year-old police community support officer took a year out from Lancashire police to serve with the Territorial Army. Former Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School pupil Michelle said: “I went into the TA office to do some enquiries for my work as a PCSO and by the time I came out I had the application form in my hand.

“It was something I had thought about previously, but never done anything about. “The lady in the recruitment office certainly did her job that day!”

Her TA work had already seen her helping police the 2012 Olympics and joining overseas visits to Germany. When she volunteered for Afghanistan and served with the Royal Logistics Corp on Operation Herrick, Camp Bastion became her new home.

"Patrol a warzone"? She must have a been TLG, as she definitely wasn't in CSLR. The blanket-stacking REMF.

All joking aside, interesting that her force let her mobilise for Op Olympics. My force told me I wasn't allowed to volunteer.
AMBO All looks Q... We really needed here?
ME Well he's been clumped so hard his eyeball's turned purple, and that guy's been shot in the face... What do you reckon?

I'm pretty sure telling someone they can't be a special as they're a nurse will be either a breach of force policy or illegal.

Also, most forces have an acknowledgement for work in the armed forces and allow time off. Merseyside's policy does for example.

I'm a PCSO, I will WATCH you get your head kicked in (as per force policy)

Says who? A particular force? I'd be really surprised if this was legal and authorised by the Home Office.
