Haha and so what is your take on the Met reversing their previous position on taking on moped thieves? good decision? it can't be right that moped theives get away with it ( viewtopic.php?p=199406#p199406 )
I think I recall seeing that video. But yes, if someone has been given fair warning and they have an open bottle, then most likely would, but I guess it always comes down to the specific circumstances
Well, there's a lot less money at the moment due to constant cuts so some hard decisions have to be made, only time will tell if the right ones are made. I do wonder if there are any right decisions though with the small amount of funding police services are getting. Will they be able to do the job effectively at this point, we shall see if it's possible.

this is National PCSOs commentary
Ever since 2002 when PCSOs first hit the streets, the mantra of "eyes and ears" of the Police Force circulated widely. PCSOs were the eyes and ears, noting descriptions of suspects seen out and about, putting in reports of local rumours/ intel/ incidents and that basic premise has continued to this day. Many serious crimes have been detected solely due to one of these reports by a PCSO, which once upon a time was fulfilled of course by a traditional beat bobby.
Traditional beat bobbies are far and few between, if not entirely missing from the equation now, so PCSOs in many cases fill that gap. Which is what PCSOs were intended for way back in 2002 anyway!
And back then the entirely naive notion that PCSOs would never be involved in conflict or dealing with disorder, was entertained widely and proclaimed as if this was quite a reasonable proposition.
As the years have gone by the theoretical idea, that PCSOs dont deal with conflict and can pass on disorder cases to Response Units, has largely gone by the wayside and onto the back burner , especially as PCSOs have gained experience and received Safety Training.
PCSOs have always needed a fair degree of courage, wit and common sense and now more than ever, as the dizzy days of 16,000 PCSOs are long back in distant memory, leaving many PCSOs working alone and on their own initiative with uncertain back up.
Society badly needs PCSOs and good ones, could you be that PCSO?
