Re: PCSO with Asperges

Aspergers Syndrome, as with Autism and ADHD, is a recognised disability, covered by the Disability Discrimination Act. You, or your friend, are under no obligation to tell your employer that you have it. Your employer also has to have your permission to see anything on your medical records. Unless t...

Re: National PCSO Uniform !!

Our blue shirts have stopped being issued and they've gone back to black. Not sure why. The inability to make a decision and stick to it I guess :slcool: So is everyone going back to black ? Not wholesale in D&C, they were only issued for a short time. All my shirts are black. Some of my colleagues...

Re: PCS Budget Day Strike

No Arthur, I'd rather that everyone, bankers and government included, considered those who have less than themselves. Pie in the sky I know. But just because the super rich are out for themselves, doesn't mean we all should be, does it?

Re: What would you do if someone pulls a kitchen knife out a

We are now given knife training as part of our Officer Safety input. Standard response is meant to be; orange button, shout "knife, knife", ensuring public safety and run or use pre-emotive strike (I like the chair idea, but running would be first choice).

Re: What really annoys you about the job

I'm fed up with the lack of public awareness of our role. There should be a publicity campaign to, once and for all, tell Joe Public what we are and what we do.rather than them just hear the media constantly bang on about what we can't do :slra:

Re: Northamptonshire PCSOs set to get new roads role

Another example of non-standard powers. We are designated with "Traffic Warden" powers. One of my regular jobs is ensuring the that the school entrance markings (yellow zig-zags) are adhered to. We have (until31/03/2013) the power to issue FPNs for contravention as there is a council traffic order t...

Re: Unison Pay Rise Consultation

I think we would be foolish to even think about asking for a pay rise in the current climate. Those of us that still have our jobs should be thankful for that- and we should set an example by doing our jobs to the best of our ability. Let's not be tempted by reckless calls for wage rises from milit...

Re: PCS Budget Day Strike

IMHO, I though it a little tactless. In times of high unemployment and with the threat of redundancy commonplace in some sectors, our local Job Centre staff were out on the street while people, who can't get jobs were going in.
