Re: Police Force Collaboration

Gualsa, although I'm too in Norfolk - we border Lincs and Cambs but don't obviously have any collaboration with them. This is another of "Norwich" central not really considerig the whole county. I think maybe it would be goot to have an "East Anglian" Police Service (Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambs, ...

Re: PCSO is fifth person to die ......

Sandi was lovely - I was only have a cuppa with her and her husband two days before this happened. It's affected us all and I think makes us all aware of our own mortality.

Re: Norfolk PCC candidate calls PCSOs 'plastic policemen'

Shifting back to the original post . . . I saw the UKIP candidate for Suffolk Constabulary (of whom Norfolk have formed a collaboration), he was stating on TV how he'd worked with Safer Neighbourhood Teams and was very supportive of PCSO's!! I must admit watching the candidates speak slightly sicken...

Re: Beat Surgeries + NHW

Our beat surgeries / street briefings are held regularly and usually attract around . . . . 0 people! We hold them in popular locations, places of high footfall and people are generally reluctant to bring anything useful to them, sure they'll say hello and then be on there way. Complete waste of tim...

Re: Community officers who extend the thin blue line

A colleague of mine is ex Met Police Officer. He came to Norfolk with dread as he found out he was going to be on a safer neighbourhood team working with PCSO's. His experience in the Met was not good, to say the least. He's now a PCSO convert because of how well trained we are, how helpful we are t...

Re: Sudden Death

Oh, that sounds horrible. Poor you. PCSOs are not used to it so it can affect us more the first time. I always say no when asked if I want to come to a sudden or suspected death. I just cant see the point. I will deal with it if it presents itself. I wont go seek it out. Did your sergeant debrief y...

Sudden Death

I was in the vicinity recently and arrived as first on scene together with a paramedic at a hanging. We both smashed a window and climbed in to discover a person hanging (deceased) from a rope. Apart from it being incrediby sad, how many of you guys and girls have had to deal with similar. :(

Re: Two men fined for dropping cigarette butts

surely flicking a cigarette butt into a gutter is not against the law as littering has to be on public land not private.

Re: PCC Wants Power of Arrest given to PCSO's

The worrying thing is that it shows how out of touch people who may be standing for PCC are!!

Power of Arrest?? NO, not necessary.

The ability and authority to do more stuff to help our PC colleagues, YES.

Isn't this a nice place?

I was just thinking how much more pleasant and friendly this site has been lately. The negativity has, by and large, gone. If you ask a question or make a suggestion, it gets answered or debated in the manner appropriate to a forum consisting of like minded colleagues. Don't get me wrong, i enjoy a ...

Neighbourhood Policing from ACPO Site

Found this rather interesting article on the ACPO Site. Thought it may be of interest to you all. With the retirement of Chief Constable Richard Crompton I was delighted to be selected to inherit his Local Policing and Partnership Business Area. In Leicestershire Neighbourhood policing is at the cor...

Re: Plain Clothes PCSO

but there are some who do it on quite a regular basis and seem to forget both their core role and even force policy. Yeah, fully understand where you're coming from. As long as the 'core' role is adhered to the majority of the time then, in my opinion, stepping outside that (with management suggest...
