Re: should Post Offices accept Crime Reports?

I'm surprised Tesco hasn't taken over policing functions yet. Who needs the post office when you can report a crime and get clubcard points too?!

Re: Sir, Marm or first name ?

What a shame that the said person had nothing better to do! The policing mind boggles. A good manager would have taken you aside and privately reminded you to use their correct title next time. You'd have left thinking 'fair cop' (pun intended) and the said person would have sorted the matter out in...

Re: Foul-mouthed rant at PCSO

What a muppet. He should be fined by the court AND given a condition to publically apologise to the kids.

Re: Failing to Display a VEL

My force still allows us to issue to the £60.00 FPN for failing to display a valid VEL. I've issued loads.

Re: pickpockets are they rife?

Never pickpockets, but plenty of dealings with the increasing purse dippers- particuarly those from eastern european gangs currently doing the rounds.

Re: Dream Over - Vetting

I am dissapointed for you. Other people's mistakes can still effect relatives/friends years down the line. If you are correct in saying you have never been involved in trouble, regardless of whether you were stopped/spoken to by the police, then vetting's refusal to tell you what you were rejected f...

Re: Do you get tasked to pick up FOUND BICYCLES ?

I'm routinely tasked to go and collect bikes to be booked into property, although there seems to be a right mish-mash of policies in my force - depending on which division of the county you work. In my division, bikes are to be collected and booked in. In another division, the control room tries to ...

Re: How long will PCSO's be around for?

Yea, not dragging the PPE conversation up, just saying PAVA would be a good bit of kit to have! I don't want cuffs or an ASP, I just feel that PAVA would have it's place for PCSO's. Following a particuarly hairy moment for one of my colleagues the other day, I'm starting to re-think my stance on PC...

Re: ask The Police

That is an excellent resource. It has the potential to grow absoloutely massive and should be promoted nationally by all forces. I will certainly promote it to the people I speak to.

Re: PCSO. Water Pistol

I have never had, nor hopefully will never need to have any need to "mark" an individual/offender I am trying to deal with. Equally, I've never wished I had CS Gas and never been in a situation where I thought I needed it. I use my eyes, ears, brain and mouth to look after me in situations. If someo...

Re: PCSO to CSO....?

Hi millsy and welcome to the forums :slby: In my experience it really is fairly irrelevant what we are called. Its all about what you do and how the public and your PC colleagues see you. In my force we are called PCSOs but I always introduce myself as a "community officer" leaving out the P and th...

Re: TUFF TIMES

Because the official caution is for police officers , not for PCSOs. I've never used it, never needed to use it, why would I, I'm not a copper. I can't think why I would need it. We were specifically told that we are not meant to or needed to use it. Who the hell told you that? If you are questioni...

Re: ASBO replacements

I don't see what the fuss is about. Admittedly the courts could be even more severe when sentencing for ASBO breaches, but that's a problem for the big wigs to fix. In my force, ASBO's work and the majority of good PCSO's are already flagging up repeat callers on their beats and identifying problems...
