Re: shocking moment a PCSO appears to exceed his powers

I have sympathy with the PCSO involved. Two things come to mind. Firstly, the lack of awareness of the role and powers of PCSO's among the general public contribute to these kind of incidents. They simply DON'T KNOW what Police powers we have. (Powers to search for tobacco and alcohol in Merseyside...

Re: PCSO's Stopping a Moving Vehicle ??

Nearly 6 months late in replying (well, I thought the site had closed)... Anyway JR....Ive not slagged anybody off. I started off asking the sort of questions that any member of the public could ask a PCSO and all weve had are 7 pages of posts indicating to me that there is a hell of a lot of confus...

Re: DS from Eltham resigns (on Facebook)

A very well written post DL.. I cant help thinking that the letter is a loud protest from an officer aggrieved at being passed over for promotion? I do hope that the officer isn't silly enough to be submitting this in the hope that she will be begged to reconsider? The MET doesn't work like that! As...

Re: have you been filmed by a MOP??

I think that the only mistake made was when the PCSO gave a "reason" for speaking to him as being that he had met him before when he had been a special constable. I think that to say that could be interpreted as an official stop to see what the bloke was doing. With hindsight perhaps the PCSO should...

Re: PCSO's Stopping a Moving Vehicle ??

I agree with everything you said in your previous post and 99.9% of the time I'd agree with the concept of calm detachment not just for not being screwed over but for being and being seen to be professional in order to serve the Constabulary and the public correctly. I do think there are those once...

Re: PCSO's Stopping a Moving Vehicle ??

If you ask me, any cop or PCSO who bends the rules is little better than the criminal..... Don't you dare compare me to one of them when you know nothing about me. You're jumping to a conclusion of me from one or a few posts. I've made mistakes and I've been burned for it. But where legislation is ...

Re: policing Twitter and Facebook

“Tiffs” should be referred or submitted direct to the Facebook/Twitter staff to remove or block, they have their own guidelines and can enforce them accordingly. I personally think the call taker should point this out and not crime the call, This should not be going to frontline officers. Not sure ...

Re: PCSO's Stopping a Moving Vehicle ??

Yeah stopping traffic for the purpose of controlling traffic is different to stopping traffic for an offence. If you wanted to stop an offender in an exceptional circumstance you could get pretty creative in your interpretation. Maybe you suddenly decided the road was ...... unsafe or something. Ma...

Re: P.C.S.O Process

To be fair alot of people fail the fitness test, which is being chased by a group of youths around a 400m track whilst in an oversized high vis jacket...you'll be doing a lot of that along with sitting in the back seat if a police car.PCSO's aren't allowed to sit in front. Good luck and enjoy the l...

Re: Met Police sued by 'amnesia' officer with criminal past

I meant to add.... So... this person failed to disclose a less than squeaky clean past when she applied for a PCSO position has now decided that she is being discriminated against because they wont now take her on as a PC... Discriminated on what grounds exactly? Hmm....gender? Religion? Plenty to c...

Met Police sued by 'amnesia' officer with criminal past

Have a read.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-22926711 The Metropolitan Police is being sued for discrimination by a PCSO denied promotion after she failed to notify them of a conviction for theft.[/ color] Rachida Sobhi did not reveal her criminal record when applying to the Met owing...

Re: PCSO's need more PPE !!

BC, you're a MET PCSO? Do you have the power to use force to detain? Just wondering.... That seems like a jibe as I don't think the Met does (not many do). But under S3CLA1967 you can use reasonable force for the 'prevention of crime'. Making off when detained is a crime for example, common assault...

Re: PCSO's need more PPE !!

There is nothing new in reactionary gap. The idea has been used for years. Its a dynamic process.....[/quote]I know it's not new, I was being facetious. It's just the term that was different to anything I've heard before. There was myself, 2 other PCSOs and 2 PCSO in close proximity, he was handcuff...
