Re: What would you do?

Far better to give advice than do nothing. If he got knocked over later on, at least you could say that you did try. Remember, this is the public you are dealing with, they know far more than we do and do not like being advised or chastised. Don't take other people's ignorance personally. If it is h...

Re: 2013 WEAPONS QUIZ

You don't need a power if it's handed over with consent. Hopefully the officer will have sufficient communication skills to get the kids to hand it over without having to resort to taking it by force. The reason for seizing it would be for the safety of the public.

Re: 2013 WEAPONS QUIZ

1/ I wouldn't see any problems with it however would advise not carrying it in public (especially if it looks like a replica, not brightly coloured plastic). Give advice on being sensible about where he points it. 2/ obtain names and addresses and seize the rifle (get it tested for pressure, legal l...

Re: Who do you believe?

I was behind the cops all of the way initially but after this, it really casts doubt on their integrity.
What an unbelievable twist, you couldn't make it up

What a joke sentence, it should have been jail.

Re: Police sell their Diamond Jubilee medals f

Got mine the other week. Turned up at the station, signed a book and that was it.
I feel quite disappointed that it wasn't awarded in a proper way, it kind of devalued the experience.

I'll be keeping it for when I retire, to make up for the shortfall in pension.

True, that is the quickest and simplest action.
I fear that while the intentions are good of obtaining all that info, I can see it being very difficult to prove who actually posted the comments, unless it is a person who lives alone and has no friends.

Re: police drivers/ police chases/pursuits 2012

And that us where the problem pretty much lies, with the courts. The sentences dished out are of little or no deterent, hence why people will take the risk, even for small matters such at shoplifting or significantly, drink driving. They're going to get done for the offence, what's a dangerous drivi...

Re: police drivers/ police chases/pursuits 2012

Irrespective of what the offence is, if the suspect makes the decision not to stop, that is their choice.
Even if it is something which is perceived to be minor "it is their choice".

Re: police drivers/ police chases/pursuits 2012

In that case the offender should get some serious jail time for failing to stop. It is "them" who make the choice, not the cops. There needs to be a real punishment for carrying out an act like that, irrespective if anyone gets hurt/property damaged ir not. It's not acceptable to blame the police fo...

Re: anyone up for a 500m shield run?

Done my two day psu induction not so long ago. Steve999 is right, the pace is set by the slowest officer, however there is the pressure to keep up with everyone else and the few who get the "red mist" and race ahead. It was a hard two days but I really enjoyed it. Roll on the next one. There was one...

You'll never stop it because people think it'll never happen to them.
There was someone with a career and the opportunity to earn an almost unlimited amount, why should your average person heed the warning?

Re: Nine children arrested after PCSO is 'battered....

True, but what you gonna do then, curl up in a ball? I would be kicking and punching, take a few down, that might make them think twice. I'de be dammed if I was just going to take it. Considering that it's very unlikely I'd wander into the middle of a mass brawl anyway, what I'd do to defend myself...

Re: Stopping motor vehicles

Yes you can. You should ensure however that you are complying with your own forces policy on wearing the correct clothing for the direction and management of traffic (ie. High viz). If it is not practicable, or you are unable to stop the vehicle at the time, you can visit the rider/keeper at a (reas...
