Re: Stopping motor vehicles
Sarg...I know PCSO's do have the power NOW....BUT....on my old power set we did NOT. We could issue FPN's for cycling on the footpath but on the course I did for 8 days(waste of time), that was when they told us we were designated with the power to stop cycles as technically we did NOT have it befor...

Re: Stopping motor vehicles
For some reason my reply was removed.... I said I thought that once trained/designated PCSO's could issue S59 warnings but did not technically have the power to actually stop the vehicles. Much like being designated to issue cycling on footpath FPN's but not having the power to actually stop them(un...

Sec. 59 comes with the power to stop vehicles, and makes it an offence for the driver not to do so.

Re: Cannabis warning forms- Met PCSOs
I don't see what the point of reclassifying it was when the punishment is essentially the same. Yes it is class B and now supposedly more "serious" but when its possible/likely they can still get warnings and a 2nd chance(pnd) before arrest etc-then what have offenders got to worry about w...

You was in a job by your own admission you thought shouldn't exist and didn't really want to do(I know you wanted to be a PC but there was a waiting list)...but good point re:relations mate....it all would depend on the victim and there thoughts or circumstances and I agree with most it doesn't appe...

Re: Yet another mockery of PCSOs, this time on BBC3
I won't even waste my bandwidth watching it. Have you noticed that Eastenders now has one token PCSO, eveytime I've seen him, he's giving directions. Single patrol in East London, hmmmm!! I did it when I was a PCSO....not that big a deal...but then my targets were robbery nominals and disqual drive...

Re: Great British Justice ! why do we bother
I am cynical because I believe it is only the people who want to change or rather-not be involved with dodgy stuff that get involved in youth schemes and the like. Much like you don't get the proper criminals handing in knifes and arms during amnesties...not the best comparison perhaps but the first...

Need a hand down from the moral high ground Tim?
(kidding...)
Some good points...as cynical as I am about youth clubs, programmes for intervention etc I see that they do indeed have benefits and labelling everybody in one group with a negative stereotype actually helps nobody...
