Common law "we are not citizens whilst in uniform"

Hi all, Bit of a strange one for you. My force has reviewed the powers of all pcso's and decided to give us additional discretionary powers. They have however stated that we are not citizens whilst in uniform and are instead, members of the police service. This means that we do not have common law p...

Re: PCSO Cyclists

I have a bike, helmet, cycle jacket, cycle shoes and lights - no lock.
I did have to purchase my own cycle gloves.

The annoying thing for me is that in the hot weather we still have wear stab vest and hi-vis - high vis stab vest covers cost too much money.

Re: Difference between the 43 forces in using PCSOs

I know there are list of powers that each force have etc but what I am interested in, is what things PCSOs do on a day to day basis within their force that is different to other forces & max wage of PCSO in their force. I am interested in taking this to management to show them what other forces do,...

Re: Court?

I always keep my feet pointed towards the magistrates/judge as this reminds me to keep directing my answers towards them. It still annoys me that a defendant can turn up at court and wait to see how many witnesses there are before entering a guilty plea - and get a reduced sentence, fine, order etc ...

Re: Hit My Orange Button Today For The First Time!

Well I'm up to two activations in just over four years. Whilst cycling through a country park I detained a male who colleagues were trying to locate for a domestic related incident. At this point two males cycled up, jumped off there bikes and attacked the lad I had detained. I tried to intervene an...

Motorbike menace rammed PCSO in Jarrow

A MOTO menace deliberately mowed down a community bobby. Stunned patrol officers had recognised Mark Davison on the 50cc Aprilia near Jarrow town centre. They could see his broken right arm was in plaster, knew he was already banned and signalled for him to stop. But the 24-year-old swerved and sped...

Re: Blue badges and single yellow lines

Thanks for the feedback guys. I should have added that the vehicle in question was parked on the single yellow lines and was around 20 metres down from the lollipop mans position. To be fair it was out of the way but all the other drivers I offer words of advice to were pointing at that one vehicle ...

Blue badges and single yellow lines

Hi all,

I am after a little clarification.
One of my local school has the usual yellow zig zags and some single yellow lines with the usual signs stating that you cannot park there between set times.
Are blue badge holders exempt from this?
