Agree, l'm at the top of my scale so no hope of me going higher. I have considered becoming an officer but l fear that l would lose the community aspect that the PCSO role affords us.
I dont fancy working nights or 'fire fighting' policing.

Our force have just brought this in as well. Partly it is to reduce cost. If the person is already employed by the force then there is no need to run full background checks, references etc. In addition the length of the course is reduced. Like everything there are plus points and negative points.
