Re: New Chief Constable for North Yorkshire Police

Agree, l'm at the top of my scale so no hope of me going higher. I have considered becoming an officer but l fear that l would lose the community aspect that the PCSO role affords us.

I dont fancy working nights or 'fire fighting' policing.

Re: Officer Recruitment Policies Are 'Morally Wrong'

Our force have just brought this in as well. Partly it is to reduce cost. If the person is already employed by the force then there is no need to run full background checks, references etc. In addition the length of the course is reduced. Like everything there are plus points and negative points.

Re: Refusal to Change Shifts Under Any Circumstances

It would appear that our force have gone the same way. Happy to change our shifts without consultation. We have also been told "The way forward for PCSOs is they stick to their rostered shifts. If they cannot get a colleague to attend any meetings, then we don't attend" I have asked for my union rep...

Have to agree in most cases what you tell the FCR and what they write are normally poles apart. I always update the occurrence log with the true events

http://www.northyorkshire.police.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=9121&p=0 I work closely with groups like MENCAP to help raise awareness of this and encourage victims to report such crimes. Some of the stories l have been told are quite disturbing. A lot of these crimes go unreported as people with learnin...

Re: Another shocking G4S story

There were a couple of the G4S security recruits on the news saying that communications from the recruitment department had been woeful and that they had heard nothing for months after successfully applying and then not been told when and where to go accurately. Re: Undermined and belittled, anyone else feel worthless

When you accept that PCs and their views come before PCSOs and our views you can breathe a sigh of relief and just enjoy your own work. I never let stuff get to me as I cannot change a thing. I would just end up bringing down moral and making enemies You'd think that after nearly 10 years l would h...
