Re: Rural PCSO's and parish councils !

I get that one. One of councillors also said to me in a meeting once that the High Street (in my big village) was so out of control he wouldn't be able to walk down it after dark without being robbed or stabbed. Needless to say no one has ever been robbed or stabbed and the few youths drinking that ...

Re: Rural PCSO's and parish councils !

The council meetings remind me of the vicar of dibley meetings.

Re: Rural PCSO's and parish councils !

HAHAHA sorry I haven't posted on here for a while but ave just read this thread. I cover 4 rural villages, they constantly moan about everything and it drives me mad. One of these villages had a population of 150 people across an area of about 4 x4 miles. There is one shop (post office), about 3 you...

Re: Is the job what you expected?

Well all Im going to say is that I have an A/C on Tuesday for the regulars (am currently a PCSO). I really really really hope I pass as I can't put up with the major issues in this role anymore.

The examples are meant to be the same. More to the point I do think it's totally down to unifrom. Lots of people still don't know what I am even though I've walked the streets for 8 hours a day for the last eight months and my force has spent endless amounts of wonga on a media push. If I was to hav...

Makes sense to me!!

Read this on a PCSO blog. Made sense to me so I thought I would post it here. Setting The World To Rights...Man I spent my whole lunch break talking with a PCSO from another force today. It struck me that there is a very simple reason some PCSOs are looked on as jumped up, useless traffic wardens, a...

I cover a rural village on the border of our policing area. There is a youth club on a Friday night and this attracts many youths from surrounding villages. Many of these youths have been causing problems. They are often found to be drinking and go on to cause damage and a nuisance around the villag...

To be honest they need to drastically improve the PCSO role to get people to stay. The majority of PCSOs I speak to in my force have been in the job 6 months and are already frustrated with the lack of powers and the fact that we have had a massive increase in paperwork. This week I have spent aroun...

It's the same story everywhere. I had a call to move on 5 youths yesterday from a shop as they all had been banned from entering and wouldn't leave. They refused to give me details and just kept moving around the shop. I called for a patrol and when it arrived the worst two just ran off. i think we ...

Personally I think it's another one of the mistakes with our role. Due to being in a position of authority and wearing a uniform the public expect us to deal with anything they throw at us, however we not given the correct equipment or training to deal with violent people. Sadly the world is a much ...
