Do i become an NBM?

Hi everyone. Im after a bit of advice from everyone in relation to a possibly becoming a beat manager. I have been a PC for over 6 years now and i feel its time for a change. I would class myself as experienced and hardworking, but after being on 24/7 response for the duration of my service, I feel ...

Re: 2013 WEAPONS QUIZ

This brings back my days at training school! I always found this a little difficult to remember. 1) Unless offences are committed, there is little that can be done really, unless it appears to be a replica. If this is the case they are committing an offence and can be dealt with accordingly. 2) I th...

Re: is she guilty of murder? will she return to Italy?

Im not sure of the extradition laws that are in place between the USA and Italy, but it certainly isn't looking good for her! I suppose you just have to go by the last ruling really, that she is guilty! It will be interesting following this on the news!

Re: South Yorks 2014 (applied 2012)

Hi Jordan, I have seen and heard many stories which sound very similar to the situation that you are in at the moment. Its a well known practice that police services, as well as other organisations, will have recruitment drives and select a certain amount of people from the process to fill the vacan...

PCSOs want more powers

http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/Powerless-PCSOs-want-powers/story-20466513-detail/story.html POLICE community support officers in Plymouth should be handed more powers, unions have claimed, arguing they were often “powerless to act decisively because of randomly imposed restrictions”. Unison, which ...

Re: VOLUNTEER PCSOS ARE HERE

i completely agree. The focus should be on giving serving PCSOs the powers they need to do their job effectively, rather than recruiting volunteers with no powers whatsoever!

Re: PCSO Best practice...

In my area command, we have an operation which links in with the local council, whereby a local authority bus is utilised to patrol areas with high levels of ASB, mainly caused by alcohol use. It is staffed normally by a PCSO, a PC and children's services to stop check children involved in ASB. thos...

Re: VOLUNTEER PCSOS ARE HERE

An interesting one! In terms of special constables who have been around since the early 1900s, we all know there are good and bad examples of these officers. There may be benefits of such a scheme, bit IMHO why create another voluntary role, when one already exists?

Re: I am Journalist who is looking to write a profile on a P

I would be very wary of speaking to journalists in these circumstances. The 'journalist' is using a generic Hotmail account, and as such his identity cannot be confirmed. Even if the journalist can be confirmed as genuine, and he intends to run with a pro-PCSO story, i would still avoid getting invo...

I completely agree Dark Lord. If you are stupid enough to be drunk on duty, then you will have to suffer the consequences.

Re: police should wear microphones to address decline in tru

In my force, we are currently trialling body worn video (BWV), but its mainly only used for domestic violence incidents to try and increase the numbers of victimless prosecutions. My main issue with it is that when it gets rolled out fully and most incidents are captured on camera, some inevitably w...
