Re: Free Travel for POLICE costs £24m per year

Perhaps its time to once and for all remove the requirement for cops to put themselves on duty when they are off duty The government say that the police are not a special case when it comes to pay rises The chattering classes and the press never has a good word for the police theses day Let them se...

50% tax seems a lot also the article states Police community support officers and traffic wardens are entitled to free bus travel while on duty. We get it off duty as well

You're right, my mistake. Sorry mate!

Re: 812 Police Officers arrested in the last two years

0.29% is not a huge amount. The more relevant thing for me though would surely be how many were CHARGED rather than arrested. I know of more than one copper who was arrested during the course of a DPS investigation as part of the process, and then later cleared completely of wrongdoing. The firearms...

Re: Flashing the card Yes or No, Never

Hmm... I'm in two minds about the above posts. Although I can see BBs point, the sticking point for me is that by trying to get free travel they have in effect been impersonating Police Officers; and that of course is an arrestable offence. Of course, specials are already Police Officers, but Fraud ...

Re: FREE TRAVEL for met pcsos

No it is only Met officers who get free travel And BTP! ;-) Free travel for officers was introduced on the Tube and buses in London in 1970 in response to a rise in crime and attacks on transport staff Surely this would still apply today, especially in this wave of gang fights and knife incidentns?

Re: SPCSO Quick question

don't forget as a SPCSO you do go out on foot once a month!! don't you? :sltee: what happens? In reality, NO! Unfortunately, every SPCSO I know personally on my borough has not been out since becoming an SPCSO. This all comes down to economics - when they are taken out of the Station Office, then a...

Re: Fit for the streets

I think (as per North Wales) it should be a contractual requirement that all operational staff should pass a role specific fitness test every twelve months whilst doing their oficer safety training.

I think we all know a couple of officers that frankly are shocking in their fitness levels!

I agree - it's a catch 22 situation.

steroid junkies ??? definitely not stuff like 'steroid junkies' be used on this site The steroid junkies referred to the idiots in the queue - I take it most posters here haven't been to some of the clubs I have in South London! That's why I said they were "standing next to me" in the queue, as a g...

Re: Flashing the card Yes or No, Never

I avoid showing out whenever I can, I even keep my warrant card INSIDE a normal wallet so no one can accidentally find out I am a copper. In fact, I recently was queueing up for a club and the bouncers were searching me - they tried to take my warrant card to search it, which is never, ever going to...
