Hey CIDB

I still think of my self as a PCSO as thats what my original contract said even though my uniform says CSO..

I believe there is some thing about the 'P' coming back into play though at some point in the new year for patrol officers.

About 5 years ago i had my bottom felt to and the lad was given a fine and adn let off basically cos he said he was drunk and didnt kknow what he was doing.......

it seems that been drunk is a good excuse for any thing these days...

i agree with JCH i will be voting for my job i can't see any one getting rid of CSO's but the tories never liked the idea from day 1....

What the public see is what they want to believe, 'The police are all bullies and violent when doing it' That is what some one said to me during a conversation on the street.... What they dont see is the risk that we as a police force put our selves in just to protect them in one way or another.... ...

I also have done all of page 1 bar statement taking do my own though. We know hae CSO's in my station who work with CID and Serious Cat Crime (SCC) team who do all there statement taking and investigation work for them leaving them to collate it all. i used to patrol a lone a lot then after dark we were told to team up which i think is right athough if your area is any thing like were i used to work you'll meet the same ppl on a day as you do at a night.

so it doesnt make much difference.

I can see both of your points but i personally think it depends on the person. Ive met and worked with 18/19yr olds who i think "how on earth did they get this job" and like wise ive worked with 21+ people who i think the same. I agree with ya there Jimmy. I currently got a promotion to the Helicopter Unit but couldn't take Night time flying as it was making very ill so asked for my health and the safety of the rest of the crew to be put back on foot in my old area. They blank refused and said Sunderland has to many CSO's ...

GPaul our jobs in Northumbria are safe as we are funded by Northumbria Police them selves so we are safe and there are big plans for us in Force Modonisation. As for the rest i don't know unles your force take over payment and draw up new contracts then that may be it as bad as it is cos the public ...

to be honest i think the uniform should be more pracital polo shirts with your police number crest and last name embeded in, comats, and issue saftey footwear like trainers......... smart and practial for what CSO's do then the shirt and dress trousers to be kept for court or special events.... this...
