Re: PCSOs had 'no training' to carry man who died

Personally I feel it would be really beneficial if police staff were given training in areas like this. If the situation is urgent and you need more people to assist, there will be occasions where there won't be enough police officers. So safety first, let's give everyone the best training we can to...

Nice to see the Chief backed the PCSO here. Sounds like the guy was more interested in recording videos for social media and throwing a tantrum than he was in actually listening.

Wow, that does sound scary, lucky he came out of that relatively unscathed, could have ended very differently. Nice to see such dedication to catching criminals but always remember, safety first. Easy to say with hindsight of course.

Re: Job opps for ex PCSO advice please.

I would consider looking for a security manager role, there's a few transferable skills there. But the trust factor alone from doing this job should assist for certain jobs and potentially help during paper sifts and interviews. How about working for an estate agent? Going into people's properties, ...

Re: Its what we've all been waiting for - Standard Powers!

Can issue a ticket for wasting police time! That's interesting. Might use that next time someone asks for directions. I jest of course. :)

Re: can we go to Mars in ten years?

Bit of a risky venture, would be nice if NASA helped them out a bit with some of their expertise. Try to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Re: can we go to Mars in ten years?

I was listening to a radio call in show the other day (no idea which one) and a guest scientist was saying the same thing. Base on Mars in 20 years. The thing is, I think we have the technology and the ability to do this and it would be an incredible accomplishment, but.. Who's going to fund this? I...

Re: eyesight requirements- confusion?

Sounds strict, I don't recall having to do that test on joining up. My eyesight is pretty bad so could have been a problem.

Maybe phone them up directly and ask the question? Always possible the nurse in question lacked experience in that role.

Certainly are some huge cuts coming, can't help but wonder how they'll save all that money.

Re: Sorry but ET is just a dream says Prof Brian Cox

Good chance he's right but we'll probably never know for sure, the universe is quite a big place. Will we ever have the technology available to travel out of the Milky Way? I'm waiting to see if we'll even be able to survive a trip to Mars, that should be interesting. Think it's fair to say though, ...

Re: Powerless PCSO's want more Powers

To be fair, it very much depends on the area you are policing, some areas have a lot more activity than others. And a lot has changed in the last few years. Safer Neighbourhoods have been very effective. On a good day, getting three decent criminal intelligence reports is a piece of cake if you're i...

Looking forward to watching this on the television when it eventually happens, not too optimistic for their odds of survival, but fingers crossed everything goes well.

I love a good RPG myself so I'm interested in the titles you mentioned as well. Hoping they turn out to be great. :slsm:
