Re: PCSO's attending Red/Grade 1 Jobs

typecastboy You certainly work totally different to other forces. Saying that, all the PCs that have come from the Met state they loved working there but not to live down there. Totally understand that. Luckily where I live, it's right bang on the edge of the countryside. I can be in bustling town ...

Re: emergency workers refused to pull a man from boating lak

I understand that, but how did they know he was already dead, if he was floating out in a lake??? One of the first things they teach you in training "Never assume!!!"

Re: PCSO's attending Red/Grade 1 Jobs

It seems that county forces work in a far different way from us Met boys. We aren't sent to "jobs", all jobs, unless they come via the MDT (Mobile Data Terminal) are put over the Airwave, and whoever is closest "puts up for it", whether that be a PCSO, PC, PS, Trojan, Dog Van etc etc etc, hence the ...

I'm assuming there's more to this than what I read in the Daily Mail. Thankfully they didn't mention PCSOs

Re: time for a change, or just a case of good and bad days?

I think we all get pee'd off with it from time to time, even super-cops like me *LOL*, but just imagine how you would miss it, if you were back in some predictable job like you did before.

Re: Here we GO !! Federation vs PCSO

I only get paid double time for working a bank holiday, which I have never worked. I get time and a half for my overtime. I think those 5 year old pay scales are a bit out of date, but, and I don't want to stir up a sub-thread here, but life in the South is far more expensive than life "up north", h...

Re: Here we GO !! Federation vs PCSO

The truth to why PCSO can earn 25K to 27K! allowances. If I took away my allowances even at top of my scale I would basically come in on par with a PC who has just past his probation. The job needs to have an attractive salary because of its limited career progression, it needs to have a certain am...

Re: Brave PCSOs prise open Staffie’s jaw

Did anyone miss the quote "As we got out of the car". Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't appear to be working in a rural area, why are they patrolling in a car. Eyes and ears and all that. You don't collect intel etc. driving around in a car.

Re: Here we GO !! Federation vs PCSO

Whist sitting at the Old Bailey recently talking to a young female PC who has just moved from Response to Safer Transport, she said "That's what everyone becomes a Police Officer for isn't it, to drive cars fast?" Never a truer word spoken

Re: Are the Met Police actually now intaking PCSOs??!

start looking for another job instead of waiting for the 'pcso' one, if you have ambitions to be a PC do tour specials and get in that way. if I knew things were gonna be the way they are now I would never have gone for 'pcso' just straight for pcs... instead they told me 'become a 'pcso' it's the ...

Re: UNISON, worth the money? alternatives?

It's a selfish part of me that thinks that if the union negotiates terms and conditions or pay rises, I will get it anyway, so why bother paying them each month. Nice...... Yes, I know. It is selfish, I'm the first to admit that, and I am far from being a selfish person. The fact remains I don't li...

Re: UNISON, worth the money? alternatives?

I'm not in any union. PCS is the staff union in the Met, and I decided not to join. I'm the only one I know who's not in it, but others do wonder why they bother. It's a selfish part of me that thinks that if the union negotiates terms and conditions or pay rises, I will get it anyway, so why bother...
