Re: your best 2 TV programmes THIS YEAR

Southland on More 4 http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/zontv/southland040909.jpg A fantastic American Cop programme, Southland takes a "raw and authentic look" at Los Angeles and the lives of the LAPD officers who police it. The show's first season centers around the experiences and inter...

Re: Cyclist with a very bad attitude

AFAIK Bob the person it's being directed at doesn't have to be gay or offended, a passer by could be offended and make a complaint. I've been at an incident and the DP shouted at us that we were "black bastards!" He was arrested for racially aggravated public order. On the provision it is perceived ...

Re: ten scenarios ON DUTY/ OFF DUTY

I think its a judgement call. There are so many factors like time of day, busy, not busy road, visibility, severity of injury, positioning of car if crashed etc etc. Big Si: Car crash by central reservation- not hard shoulder. Suspected spinal fracture. Do you move the patient? Sorry to play Devil'...

Re: ten scenarios ON DUTY/ OFF DUTY

ACPO do say the hard shoulder is not a safe place and I agree (I do work there) but it is seen as a place of safety. The hard shoulder is a place of safety (try to remember I'm motorway trained) In the event of a break down or RTC our safety advice is to get out of the vehicle and up the embankment...

Re: Cyclist with a very bad attitude

Oh dear.... I think that you really need to have broader shoulders.. Ok Jimmyriddle, lets suppose that Im the cyclist and you are the PCSO. So, having called you a nasty name you get a PC along who arrests me for section 5, hate crime, etc,etc,etc.... What do you really think is going to happen? Wi...

Re: ten scenarios ON DUTY/ OFF DUTY

the hard shoulder is ... seen as a place of safety. According to the current ACPO Road Policing manual, the hard shoulder is not to be considered "safe"- and that's only common sense too IMO. If I attended an RTC on the hard shoulder of a motorway, I'd be moving all casualties away from moving traf...

Re: ten scenarios ON DUTY/ OFF DUTY

In the scenario described, I would agree with Marlon that under no circumstances whould anyone stay in a vehicle on the hard shoulder. HGVs will often veer into the hard shoulder due to tiredness fx and a 60mph smash is never nice, especially if the occupants of the broken down or crashed vehicle a...

Re: ten scenarios ON DUTY/ OFF DUTY

here we go then!! hard shoulder SCENARIO you pull over onto the hard shoulder as you see a car that has ploughed up the hard shoulder and grass area, smoke is billowing from the bonnet and the 2 females have run from the car and have lain down on an earth bank as you approach the females the first ...

Re: Coppers - Channel 4 tonight...

That wasn't our current CC - a load of female officers complained about their hats and they were "authorised" to trial the male version. The trial was deemed "successful" and now female officers are allowed to "wear whichever one they prefer" which in my opinion is "complete bulls***" :sltgu: I onl...

Re: photographer is quizzed by police

"So I'd argue if you're a photographer taking photos of other people's children without permission and you refuse to stop your actions could be considered to be causing harassment, alarm or distress to those people, based on the recent case law. At the very least I'd tell you to stop doing so. If y...
