Re: what do you get for working a Bank Holiday?

New Years Eve is a Police bank holiday? One of the Winsor recommendations that has been widely implemented is that police officers select the days that are considered to be bank holidays for the purposes of pay and conditions. I believe the idea was that people would select more convienient days th...

Re: what do you get for working a Bank Holiday?

Surely there was a minimum staffing level for the cops? Nope. Virtually every single cop in the force picked New years eve and new years day as their bank holiday. The force wanted us to do it because it was cheaper, we all told them to go swivel. If it's too expensive to let us do bank holidays us...

Re: How on Earth did this happen?

The reality is that the PS made a mistake and has probably put his hands up to it as soon as he realised what had happened. I seriously doubt that. If he has any sense he has spoken to the Federation and is now keeping his mouth shut. I am very surprised he hasn't been suspended, it is alledged tha...

Re: what do you get for working a Bank Holiday?

We don't get to work bank holidays. However they tried to make us work New Years Day (all the cops had picked it as their bank holiday) as it would be cheaper. Collectively we told them to naff off, if we aren't good enough to work it usually don't come running to us to fix your mistake.

Re: Joint Enterprise? is it justice? should it be cancelled?

If a serious crime is committed and you're there, you are either in the dock with them or in the witness stand putting them away. That is how justice is done. These lads weren't in the wrong place at the wrong time, they were jointly involved in the deaths of other people, its great the mothers are ...

Re: Being filmed

If someone shoves a camera in my face and starts asking questions, its abundantly clear that they have an agenda, and it isn't to make me look good, it's to test me, see if I trip up and then put it on the internet for everyone to see. If you're happy Bert, to answer questions in those circumstances...

Re: Being filmed

So you tell them not to film you but they decline your request. What do you do now? Then I don't answer whatever questions they want to ask me. I don't know if you're misreading me or whatever, I don't walk upto people and ask them to stop filming. But if someone comes upto me with a camera and the...

Re: Being filmed

But then you come over a bigger t*t. Just do your job as you would normally and let them have their "fun". I disagree. I think politely telling someone, (without resorting to thinking up laws they might be breaking or trying to get their name and address) that you don't wish to answer any questions...

Re: PCSO reached inside car to pull the keys out

Power to use reasonable force to prevent a crime, CLA1967. She is about to drive off drunk, with a baby in the car. Taking the keys out the car seems a very reasonable use of force to me. She also used the power to detain, I'm assuming the woman refused her details after committing a moving traffic ...

Re: Being filmed

It might be legal, but it isn't very professional. It is annoying being filmed, but however you react to it, if it's anything other than a smile and a wave, you're gonna look like a right t*t on youtube. If they start asking you questions just politely inform them you will answer anything they like ...

Re: What type of equipment do you take out with you?

Big Brother, Is the gaffer tape because you don't have handcuffs? :D It's actually really useful stuff to have with you. Whenever I've come across a junction box that has been forced open, or for use in first aid if you don't have enough bandages. The victims coat strapped on with a load of gaffer ...
