I may not be here as often as I would like, but I am here, and I have been since the start.

Well this is fun, so you can progress as a PCSO so long as you stop being a PCSO, as many of you have said there are plenty of opportunities for progression, provided you stop doing what you are doing and become standard police staff, then the world is your oyster. Hold up a moment, there might be a...

I my opinion the arguments put forward by mattd would be valid for the removal of any supervisory role, why tell the sarge something if he is jkust going to repeat it to the inspector, get rid of him and speak directly to the inspector. Though i do not see that happening. Whilst there are repeated c...

If the systems were correctly integrated then much of the work would disappear. Also the forms that have to filled in with repeated information, even if it is just the date, this all wastes time. When I joined as a PCSO I saw some of the systems that officers deal with and I was amazed at how wastef...

I met a senior officer at a function a few days ago who described the PC role as an administrator. This was not meant to be derogatory, just a reflection of the facts. They seemed to be hinting that the papaerwork has taken control and that time out on the street for the ordinary officer is now such...

Tim 419 wrote Met PCSOs do not take any crime reports and are in fact unable to access the system used to record crimes (CRIS). They are also do not do any statements or MG11s (apart from their own if they witness anything). I have seen the time and effort that goes into a CRIS report and it seems a...

Oh I can see the benefit and I have no objections, providing it does not cut out the visibility patrolling too much. But looking aroud the forums there are many that see anything we do extra as a challenge and an encroachment. You cannot have it both ways, or am I missing something?

That is just being normal, nothing wrong with that. I am undecided, what if after a long day of doing everything correctly, you make a mistake? We are only human, would this mean that you are reprimanded for it? On the other hand it would help with the statement and you would know how many times you...

Is this not blurring the line a little?

I may be wrong but having just read the lat two pages it seems that some PCSOs in some areas are starting to encroach on the PC side of the job?

You are assuming that you know exactly who I was directing my comment at? Which you don't and it was so long ago that I too have forgotten so I hope that is an end to it. As for the union, it seems that there is a long way to go before we are understood and properly represented. We as PCSOs have man...

Well it seems to me that some people are strongly against the PCSO role developing and I can see that this is from PCs and PCSOs. It is a fact though that many of us feel that there is a use for a supervisory role, and if you look back through my posts you will see that it does not remove the need f...
