The basic MET rate has gone up to £18,323 upon joining. This does not include the additional London allowance or shift allowance, which can up the salary substantially.

I still dont fully understand this question the response i put on my met form got below standard marks and deemed "fictious"??? still passed it due to the high marks of the other section. but...

I think perhaps handcuffs could be issued to PCSOs and this would not make a huge difference to their role, well that's how I see it. They're not exactly a weapon as such are they? And it's not like you would have to use them. I would have to say no to PCSOs being given any of the other equipment th...

Sad situation. :(
If I was as old as the LLoyd's, I think somehow I would have crossed at the right place considering as you get older you react more slowly and so forth.

60 does seem a bit much in a 30 area though I have to say.

I think they should be accompanied by a police officer really, as PCSOs don't have a huge amount of power, so, I think it sounds a bit silly having one PCSO to a car.

Maybe they could be given motor bikes or bicycles instead though? :D

Could be time to agree to disagree though, as everyone can see this is going round in circles now. Everyone thinks they're right.

I think it'd be good to take jimbo's advice, before anyone else snaps...

I have to agree with Big Brother here.

And if you want to feel safer, perhaps you should do what I previously suggested. Learn some purely defensive martial arts. This way you will be less worried about being attacked and are prepared if it comes to the worst.

What I think would be more effective in situations, where you get attacked by mad people, would be defensive training, as in martial arts, which was suggested earlier. You should be trained to disarm people who attack you, using minimum force. I don't see how having PPE, would be any more effective ...

We may be looking for the wrong solution here. I think perhaps the real answer here isn't in giving more equipment to PCSO's but in having more police officers available, for a start, so they can back up PCSO's if they're unfortunate enough to get into such confrontational situations. I think you'll...
