"Common Criminal" Biggs

Express Letters, page 26 of today's Daily Express

"Common Criminal" Biggs

How times change. It was not so long ago Ronnie Biggs was arrogantly laughing at the police because he had fled to South America and become a father, thereby putting himself in a position where he could not be extradited to the UK.

Now he and his family are begging for his release due to ill health. Could it be he would have been better off serving his time in prison having been sentenced for a serious robbery?

As far as I am concerned he should finish his time even if it is in the prison hospital. Biggs and the other gang members were made out to be public heroes but in fact they were just common criminals.

Fair point.
Would it not have been better just to get it out of the way all those years ago?

I am quite amazed

this rationale should be applied way more often

USA leads the way, the UK is frankly quite pitiful on keeping scum like him locked up for long enough

As they said-had he not escaped he would have finished years ago...

People like that are not a hero of any description....they are criminals...simple...
