PCSO Salaries Bath and Somerset

Post by NeilW » Fri Oct 19, 2007 1:53 pm

I am in Bath area and I have had my Interview and due to have the fitness test.

In my Interview I was told that the salary is 16600 rising to 18500 but no one could tell me the what the shift allowance is and what triggers it?

Human Resources seem unsure as well.

Does any PCSO's in Bath and Somerset area know what these shift allowances are and how much do they take home roughly each month?

Thanks

neil

Many thanks for that, so how much shift allowance do you normally get on top of that?

Thanks for your reply

Thanks

Neil

Shift allowance is incorporated into that I get my basic pay based on 37 hour week then they add the unsocial hours @ 14% then take all my deductions off.

Many thanks for that 1200ish does not sound that much after they have added the shift bonus on!

Avon and Somerset pay either a 12 or 14% shift enhancement on top of the basic salary. On top of that you will get an additional enhancement for weekend hours. These hours vary for everyone depending on how much or many weekends you are required to do, but is based on a 12 month basis. The £16660 plus a 14% shift will give you just over £19k but on top of that allow about another £2k for the weekend supplement.
On that basis as a new incomer you should expect to take home after tax and pension around £1250.
Hope that helps!

yes, it was nice to get a lump sum in january this year after the last pay claim :D still, would've been nice to get it straight away!!!

after all deductions, i take home £1420-ish a month. As I've been in for so long, I'm almost at the top of my pay scale (only have one more increment i think, then it's just the yearly cost-of-living thing, blah!). Basic pay is around 17300, with a 27% shift allowance on top (including the weekend enhancements) £23700 odd :D

Is Unison really worried about negotiating a huge pay rise for PCSOs (don't forget some are already paid up to £5k more than others) on a national scale, or are they perhaps concentrating on bigger issues like Equal Pay/Job Evaluation/the state of the NHS? :?: :?

Many thanks for all the information, it is really helpful

Like the rest of you I have bills etc...every month.

So I should be ok if the salary starts on 1250,

Is there a pay rise on the way?

There are rumours of a pay rise, it should be in line with PC's between 2 & 3%.
