PCSO start dates

Post by hol » Fri Jan 25, 2008 9:50 pm

Hi guys,

i'm new to the site and was wondering if anyone knows more about the medicals. ive just been given two dates for medicals, one with a nurse and the second with a doctor, does anyone know what they do at each of them and why i'm having two?

i know they take 50-100 strands of hair for drug testing - ill have a bald patch

any help would be great.

Drugs test

Post by elhef » Wed Feb 27, 2008 10:47 pm

Hey, I'm very interesting in joining as PCSO, however, i was worried about a drugs test. I thought it was a urine/salavia sample, which i would of been fine with being clean for a fair while. But a hair test will show up my drug use from more than 4 months ago.

If you now any more about this, or if it would hamper my chances of joining could you email elhef666 @ hotmail .c o m.

Thanks

yes they ask your ex employer about your sickness, they do this when they do your ref which is a few weeks before you start training. They also do a medical on day 2

They normally only ask to write to your doctor if there are any medical problems come up on your medical or anything that you have mentioned on your forms. You should have already been asked about your sickness on your forms, they also check with employer when doing refs just before you start, if you dont get your refs in on time your training date will get changed to a later date. Yes they can turn you down if your sickness record isnt good, i was told it can cause them to cancel your application if its bad, and they dont always have to tell you if they decide to turn you down at the last min. A have heard of someone waiting 2 years to start to be told they dont need her, they gave no reason. You normally get told if you pass the vetting but if you fail it they dont have to tell you why either. Anything can cause your application to be canceled at any time, i would keep that in mind. They ask you not to hand your notice in until they say its ok to do so. But if you have been truthful on your application form and your employer confirms this then there should not be a problem, thats why you should always be truthful on your application forms right from the start

thank you

you are so helpfull are you a pcso ? also so they do not write to your doc only unless you specify a problem? so they do ask your employer but shorely an employer can not say you have poor sickness shorely they could be liable for that ?

For Lancs they ask your employer to rate your attendance out of 5. If they rate you at less than 3 then further checks will be done. I was honest about my sickness on my application as i had quite a bit of time off work for an operation. They didnt question me about it and they didnt ask my doctor for futher details so im presuming its ok, although i am still waiting for my vetting to be completed. I think it depends on the amount of time you have had off and the reasons you have given. Whatever you do dont lie as they will probably find out and then you may not get the job.
