depends on the area , london is a different kettle of fish to the sticks.

I'm up norf ....

I tend to either patrol trains , or one of several stations i have responsibility for...

Or help the pc's out with any jobs that are on going...or help out with any arrests we get involved in. ( by get involved in i mean if we have brought jobs in for them to deal with)

or join in operations such as op shield....

alot more varied than walking the same streets day in day out....

And you'd find that btp appreciate pcsos and the work they do immensly more than in a ho forces , some more than others.

Do you know of a site where I could find a detailed description of what tasks btp pcso's do as this is a question on the application form.

I think it depends what area you are made to work in on your H/O force. From what i've been told your old division was a crappy one to work for anyway. PCSO's had very little contact with cops, they didn't (and still don't) get sent to jobs, they deal with little else apart from abandoned vehicles and the odd nuisance call out.

My division, like BTP is short on cops. Hence our controllers send us to a lot more things, and we're used a lot more in a pro-active role. I quite enjoy being responsible for a town of 10,000 people, working with them to solve their problems over a long term period, and being sent to jobs that are a lot more interesting than my colleagues over the border get sent to.

But, it's personal opinion at the end of the day.

Not sure where you heard that to be honest.

I worked for the most overworked and understaffed nick in the whole force but had the highest detection rates.

Had a great relationship with the regs and dealt with quite a lot of jobs. So i'm confused as to why you think what you did or know what division or area i worked.

You forget i worked for one force as a special and a pcso for 10 years... and my time is btp has been alot more enjoyable to be honest..

BTP L area central are starting to transfer thier pcso's to other stations in central area seems the further away from home the better, they say its for growth and development and the big one motivation. Begining to wonder is it a case of pee them off enough so they quit themselves, so they don't have to fork out redundancy. Any views guys & girls
