I have passed the paper sift, passed the assessment, passed the interview and been measured up for the uniform (tried all the gear on too!) - just got the medical on 19th November + CRB check (posted today) + references, so looking promising for a 5th January start

Well done. How did you find this site and what made you choose the PCSO role?

I think it's a great job because it offers a real opportunity to play a part in maintaining a safe and enjoyable community for everyone in it. I know there will be great, happy, funny, sad and tough experiences but it's making a difference that counts. Everyone seems so positive about the job and it looks as though there are really good achievements to be made.

I actually found this forum by putting 'PCSO' into Google and here I am. I've read some very interesting and useful tips and advice and I can already see from it just how well everyone pulls together.

I'll keep you posted on how it's going.

I'm now applying for the PCSO positions, closing date this fri. Just doing the person spec and experiences section on the app and hoping to send it off tomorrow. I'm dead excited, just hope i make it through!

I have to say that the Suffolk Constabulary have been great - everything has been very well organised and I've got answers to questions when I've needed them.

I have the medical next Wednesday (19th Nov) then it's just down to the CRB checks (currently ongoing) and then references which I'm very confident about.

It's a job I've wanted since the first day I heard about it and I'm on the brink of getting there now (fingers crossed).

I guess you have got the forms in now? Let me know how you get on ok?

Got my forms in yesterday. How long did it take for you to get callbacks etc? Things moving fast?

Yeah things are moving pretty quickly compared to others it seems.

Individual apps and timescales are different, and the pressures on the constabulary are no doubt variable too.

As a rough guide you are probably looking at several weeks after the closing date for apps before you get a response, as I know there have been masses of applications - don't forget that they are also doing loads of other apps for Officers, Admin etc etc on top of the PCSO apps.

What I would advise is that you don't contact them with regards to timescales - wait until until you hear from them as they'll let you know as soon as they know themselves. They are of course open to other queries whilst your forms are being looked at.

Sorry for the delay in posting but there was a delay following my medical and a few points had to be clarified.

Anyway, the good news is that I have now been cleared medically and an official job offer is on it's way this week apparently

I'm so happy - after approximately 3 months it's a great feeling to make it over the line.

I have heard nothing so far, 2 weeks since i handed in my application. Only 2 weeks since closing date on friday though. I just wish i knew SOMETHING lol. I hate playing the waiting game

I received the official job offer today and have accepted - yeah it feels great! I'm handing in my notice at work tomorrow morning

We are having a pre-induction meet one evening to meet everyone and I think that's an excellent idea. We start training on 5th January so I've got a few weeks off before we start.

Well, you are probably more or less half way through the wait already and time will fly for you now, so the very best of luck with the next stage.

Please keep me updated on your progress as I'd like to know how you get on.

I received a letter on Saturday explaining that i might not hear anything until the new year due to the amount of applications they need to go through. Still, i know they have mine and are now assessing it which is good to know
Will update you as and when i hear anything, make sure you do the same! Always good to know what is going on in regards to training

Yeah they get masses of applications it seems, but they are very good at keeping you up to speed on what's happening and I think it's fantastic that they have taken the trouble to let you know about a possible delay.

I'll certainly keep you updated on my progress and I'd love to hear how you get on too

By the way, which area are you hoping to get posted to? Do you have a town in mind?

sorry for the delay, been a busy week at work and with Xmas coming up.

When do you leave your current job? Must feel amazing, perfect start to your new year!
I actually hadn't even thought about where i would like to be posted lol. How mad is that!? I've just been taking it a step at a time. I live in Felixstowe at the moment so anywhere near here i guess. I don't drive yet which limits me a bit. Where have you chosen?
