Absolutely no truth there whatsoever I'm afraid! Two very different roles - there are plenty of top quality PCSOs who would not necessarily be right for the PC role. To arbitrarily move people into a post as as selective and demanding as a PC is nonsense that doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Pretty much what i thought. I think this rumour about Pcso's being scrapped if certain parties come in has really stirred up a hornets nest of rumours lol. I here some great rumours now every day. that much i may even suggest a sort of comedy forum on here so we can list them all lol :sltgu:

I'm sure that if/when they scrap the role in some forces that some pcsos ill be given the option to apply as a pc and if they pass the recruitment then yes they will become pc's. But as for giving no choice and just sticking a uniform on them.. nah

I dont think it was meant they would just get a uniform but more like they would miss the application and tests and just go streight into training

I would think they will change the PCSO to PC application and make it easier for someone who has done a couple of years as a PCSO. We do have an advantage over someone who comes into the Police from elsewhere.

They have now shortened the Met training for PCSOs so you don't have to learn everything all over again, a lot of which of course you already know, but I think it could be changed a lot more to make it a quicker and smoother transition.

I agree with your point about the training but to change the recruitment procedure would just lower the standards.
