In Bournemouth in 2002, the right hon. Member for West Dorset (Mr. Letwin), who has some role in drawing up future Conservative policy options, said:

"We want to see real police officers doing a real job not plastic officers doing a plastic job."
And thats coming from an MP...LOL!

I want to see politicians doing a real job, but I know thats not gonna happen!
July 2007 - PC Day 1 Assessment
December 2007 - Failed PC Day 1 (by 1%)
September 2008 - PCSO Day 2 Passed
29 January 2009 - Training commences
16 March 2009 - ON THE BEAT!
January 2010 - Re-apply for PC...WooP WooP!

Thanks for posting that link. I've sat here for the last 45 minutes reading that from beginning to end, and I have to say, I think it was quite positive and answered a few questions too.

Maybe it's not all doom and gloom if the Tories get in, I guess he likes us in principal which is a start. He even brought up positive incidents.

Very confused now.

I have just read this full article and I am sighing relief that finally we have some support in the HoP (Houses of Parliament). Allthough I still don't see that give us extra 'powers' of firework confiscation will do much good, I think this power is as much use as saying 'we will give the pcsos's power to walk on the street and power to breathe in uniform' what a stupid waste, hows about giving us PPE but only captor and handcuffs. I dont want to arrest but Some PPE needs to be looked into.

It did say they were going to take a long look at the role. Future improvements, they also talked alot about PCSO's being the community policing team. I say start with the basics get the uniform the same, harmanise the powers through a sensible review, offer on go career support, start true career pathways into the Police.

I say turn the role up side down, back to front, inside out then come up with the plan!

well i just watched the whole thing for an hour and a half.........................

First things, only 3-4 people having this debate, thats a joke.

Even the labour guy said " the PCSOs are putting their lives at risk every day doing this job as the public do not differentiate between them and constables".

Now if that does not say that we need PPE etc then i'm a millionaire!!!

Still not convinced tbh, for starters why was the tory policing guy not even bothered to turn up! Says it all really

GO POLICE GO POLICE

You see Lib Dems want yearly fitness tests for Police Officers, have a sneaky look round the office to see who you think might be riding a desk for a while!

We will employ 3000 more Police, but take 25000 away due to the lack of fitness!

You might find that dropped when the Police are told they can move unfit Police Officers to civvie roles, as they are no longer able to function as Police!

That's why it doesnt work - it was also deemed as constructive dismissal.
