Christmas babies

Tredegar officers both due for Christmas babies

A NEIGHBOURHOOD policing team in Blaenau Gwent has two staff who were due to give birth just a day apart.

Tredegar Police Community Support Officer Gemma Thomas was due to give birth yesterday while colleague Janine Dingle, due today, actually gave birth to a son last Thursday.

The coincidence doesn’t end there as the pair also planned their weddings together.

PCSO Dingle’s partner proposed to her in October 2009, having already set a wedding date for September 2010, while PCSO Thomas was already planning her big day for November, 2010.

They were both over the moon to have someone to share ideas and all the stress and excitement with, and each lunchtime was spent discussing wedding dresses, flowers, venues and honeymoons all in anticipation of their big days.

Within six months of the weddings both women announced they were expecting.

PCSO Thomas said: “Its nice to have somebody in work to talk, and moan, with, someone that understands.”

PCSO Dingle added: “It’s great having somebody to discuss weddings and babies with – two major life experiences.

“It’s been a massive coincidence. We are going to miss each other while on maternity, but we will be planning lots of play dates.”
