What is DVDS? What does it mean?

PCSO stuff ONLY: Burning issues, high profile questions or cases that have been highlighted in national or local news, let's talk about them IN HERE! A link to the item would be great where possible.

What is DVDS? What does it mean?

Post by falkor » Tue Mar 18, 2014 7:17 pm

It means "Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme" aka Clares Law

The scheme covers any person asking the police about another person's previous violent behaviour, this is termed their "right to ask."

What would you do if a person approached you asking about another person's previous violent behaviour? Could you disclose their previous violent behaviour?

Bert that's not bad but it doesn't really tell a PCSO what is expected of them if approached by a person looking for that info

what should a PCSO do right there and then? there is actually an NCALT online tutorial which lasts about 20 minutes I think to guide you through it, so if anybody gets approached they are not "just left to scrabble for an answer"

ninjamonk the data protection officer is a safe bet alright but the NCALT guidance saves you doing that, anybody been looking at NCALT to check that out? you are supposed to tell any applicant 6 different main messages straight off and unless you get the NCALT training you won't know
