I have to ask this and I make no bones about being direct, but are you on a wind up Mr Incredible?

First PCSO helicopter observers and now dog handlers :?: How could a PCSO be a dog handler?

Where are you getting this information from that you are querying about whether it is true or not? Could you post a link?

I dont think so, no one can stand a dog barking for 30 minutes while you have detained a suspect

I've met a few PCSO Chief General Supreme High Commanders to be honest.
Does dim rhaid i chi ddweud dim byd. Ond gall niweidio eich amddiffyniad os na fyddwch chi’n son, wrth gael eich holi am rywbeth y byddwch chi’n dibynnu arno nes ymlaen yn y Llys. Gall unrhyw beth yr ydych yn ei ddweud gael ei roi fel tystiolaeth.

Not sure that this is a good idea, I think we should let the dog handlers do their job and we do ours.

There is enough confusion sometimes as it is.

Oh there goes that alien again, excuse me...ooops he's gone.....

Whilst it's a nice idea to think about dream roles, a police dog is much like a baton or CS Spray. A police officer has to be licenced in order handle one (A General Purpose dog - Public Order / Searching). Its use on a person amounts to a use of force and has to be justified all the same.

If they won't give you a baton then I don't see you getting hold of a furry land shark.

I agree entirely Kelly!

I also agree 110% with Sgt87 , if they are not going to issue us with a stick or some spray then there is no chance whatsoever of getting a "furry land shark" (i just love that!)

I think we should leave dog handling and air support to the pro's and let's just get on with our Community/Security work that we do best.

Why on earth are members going on about air support/dog unit PCSOs???
PPE, i can understand, but helicoptors/dogs/baton ronds/armoured vehicles/robocop machine pistols, are a bit ott.

Sgt, love the furry land sharks tho. much lol.

Hairy Crocodiles as we use to call them in Kent !!! But I love that term too !!!

I remember the Chief of Staff having a go at me one long night duty many years ago for calling for a 'HAIRY CROCODILE' to the scene whilst chasing a suspect on foot. I was immediately repremanded with a :

"THIS IS THE CHIEF OF STAFF. WILL THAT UNIT PLEASE USE THE CORRECT TERMINOLOGY WHEN CALLING FOR A DOG VAN & CALL THEM A 'SIERRA DELTA' UNIT AS THEY ARE PROPERLY KNOWN.

Needless to say after losing the suspect in a large field & getting my breath back, I keyed up & said the immortal words of :

"MY APOLOGISE TO THE CHIEF OF STAFF. CONTROL, COULD I HAVE A SIERRA DELTA HAIRY CROCODILE TO THE SCENE IN THAT CASE PLEASE"

Needless to say I wouldn't give my callsign after that & the control room didn't reply straight back either !!! LOL
