Who was the first PCSO?

Any other 'PCSO issues' that do not fit in to the other forums. Recruitment of PCSOs, day to day PCSO duties, questions about law, joining the regular police, becoming a special, anything else remotely PCSO orientated!!

Who was the first PCSO?

Was just wondering who the first PCSO was.
Anyone know, are they on this site?

there they are the first PCSOs back in 2002

I don't think there WAS "a first PCSO"

A total of 44 PCSOs took to the streets of Westminster on the first day

Yep I was the first,I would say the first PCSO was the first one out on the streets for the very first time on the beat,do we all agree that would make them the first?
If so then I would fit that description as I was on the early shift on the day PCSO's were launched in London, which was the very first place in the UK and only the second or Third city in the world to have them.

I left Belgravia Police Stattion first as we needed to get the area car to the garage and as I was paired up with the Sgt assigned with the task to do this ASAP as they needed the car back in action we left the station first before anyone else!!

On the way I had to get out and direct traffic as I pointed out to the sgt that we might need to help the guy in the lorry as he will not make it under that bridge so I directed traffic while the sgt got him turned around.

So I would say I was the first PCSO ever but as always someone will argue with that I will let you make that decision its up to you!

Good point Taffy - I heard that AB does not and never has had an area car. :?

Hooray for Bazza! :D

That's something to tell the grandkids;)

Well done mate for having the insight to get involved early - it can't have been easy being one of the first to get slated doing the job.

I was happy to do it,to be part of history is great,I just wish I can change things for us but in London the PCSU are not as good as they should be also I think PCSO's and all staff should have a choice in what union they join,we didnt have a choice and I think it is the same countrywide.

Our only choice really is to form our own(overtime obviously)

The problem is people are either against this or do not care enough to bother, what can you do?

I was a mobile police station driver as well when I was a PCSO. Can't say I enjoyed it that much.

Well done Bazza, glad to have you on here No.1
